| The merger of Baptist Memorial Health Care Corp. and St. Joseph Hospital went into effect in 1997. The merger combined the programs and services from both medical centers. As part of the complex deal, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital acquired the property and buildings of St. Joseph Hospital for $20 million from the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration of Mishawaka, Ind., who established the hospital 108 years ago. |
