Libertyland opened on July 4, 1976 on the land that had been the Fairgrounds Amusement Park. Only the Zippin Pippin and The Grand Carousel remained from the earlier Amusement Park rides.

Libertyland rides included:
Park's Peak, The Thriller, Surf City Water Slide, Wipeout, Zippin Pippin, Big Bumper Boats, Old Hickory Log Flume, Tennessee Tilt, Twain's Twister, Revolution, Rebellion, Sea Dragon, Paratrooper, Kamikaze, Little Bumper Boats, Car-Go-Round, Pirate Ship, Red Baron, Umbrella Ride, Dragon Wagon, Casey's Cannonball, Grand Carousel, Turnpike Antique Cars, Fun Run, and Screamer.

Libertyland closed on October 29, 2005. These photos were taken just after the park closed by Memphian David Yawn and are used with his permission.

The Revolution
The Revolution was in the first generation of steel roller coasters that allowed the cars to go upside down. It's clever name reflected the Libertyland theme and the fact that it took riders through two complete revolutions.
